Salvage Mod 1.1 For the EVO

This past week I was running Salvage-Mod 1.1 for the EVO and I have to say this ROM is excellent very stable, and keeps the vanilla feel of stock android. This ROM is android 2.3.3 and runs incredibly smooth as well. Now originally this started as a stock ROM no extra bells and whistles but with the last update they made they added a CPU governor that lets you overclock or underclock the processor to your liking, also added was a mappable taskbar that lets you chose what power controls are in you taksbar! In terms of Extras there aren't to many and I still like to use google voice over sprint's voice mail or visual Voice mail. The few bugs that This rom had before have been squashed this ROM now supports GPS, Voice mail from sprint, camera's working, and 4G WiMax enabled only thing not working is HDMI but its a matter of time with the current break throughs made in that area by Team Win and Orrembas.
I personally did have a couple of problems with random reboots on this ROM but found no other reports of this in the thread and the Dev. team is willing to figure out what is wrong, so support is great for this ROM as well. Features are as I mentioned above and I must say its very well done I think that this ROM has a chance to compare to Cyanogen Mod in the near future. On a scale of 1-10 I give this ROM a solid 9 with bonus points for support. I will share a link to the Thread and the website to download the ROM and Give special Thanks to Echoside, Barnacles 10, Bigdog Rush, and Lithid-CM for all of thier hardwork on this ROM and say Keep up the good work guys You have done well!!!!

Destroyer Rom Review for the EVO

I have run this ROM for a week now and found it quite good but still full of bugs. I love the point that it is based on Cyanogenmod7 and has many extras (to many to list), and that since it is based on CM7 it means its 2.3.3 gingerbread. Battery life is incredible on a uncalibrated battery I ran for 14hrs, usually on a uncalibrated battery I only get about 4-5hrs. the speed of the rom when it runs correctly is incredible it flies and barley any lag, until about 6hrs later where it starts to lag horribly and requires a reboot. Other bugs include Damaged SD Card messages which to fix you have to format your SD Card, Voicemail issues (in all fairness CM7 has this same bug) where you have to use a sprint vvm workaround or use Google Voice, and finally the last bug is for some people there is a bug where it will constantly force close com.android.sys files. I got lucky and didn't have the sd card bug or the force close issue but that doesn't mean you won't so be warned.

OK now for the Features! 1. It comes with both Launcher Pro and ADW EX
2. the extras include games
3. It has Wireless Tether enabled for free
4.Themes Galore!
5.Lastly WIMAX ENABLED!!!!!!!

In conclusion this ROM is nice but until the bugs are worked out its just a nicely themed ROM with great extras but not worth the possible problems you could have. On a scale of 1-10 this rom gets a 3.7 from me, hope you have found this informative and enjoyed this review and once again all feed back is appreciated

Should I root my android phone?

In this article I will be talking about why you should you root your phone.  Have you ever thought, should I root my phone?  Well I have rooted my phone and some things I have learned are...phone carriers and phone manufacturers want to add bloat ware and custom skins to our phones and do not want us to experience android like Google intended us too!  But with rooting you can stop all that nonsense!

After I rooted my phone I had access to free Mobile hotspot, I could remove all the carrier bloat ware pre-installed on my phone, and had access to android applications that required root access!  And you can install custom ROMs , overclock your phone, and do much more!  Rooting just opens a world of possibilities for your phone!

I wanted to keep this article short and tell you the main reasons why you should root your phone!  So after reading this, will you be rooting your android phone?

Azrael X rom for the EVO

OK this is the first of many reviews on Roms that I will be writing and will update with any ROM I try or know about!
Now I have been following this ROM since I got my EVO and rooted it back in October for my birthday, now while it wasn't my first ROM it was and is in my opinion the best sense ROM I have ever used! Azrael boasts Speed, performance, and Great battery life and so far I found it to be true (at least until I destroyed the calibration of my battery). Ricsim78 The creator of the ROM has shown extraordinary support for his ROM and includes things like astro file manager, Wireless tether app that has been tweaked for a steady connection, spare parts to accelerate the animations, Titanium Backup (free version), and a Few other miscellaneous things. If your worried about bloatware, no need the only things the people consider bloat that is on this ROM is Sprint Zone and Sprint Football any of the programs you want are in a separate folder on your SD card named Azrael Removed. Now your probably going to ask about a quadrant score well I can tell you that quadrant Benchmarks are meaningless Quadrant is inconsistent and you can run the same test under the same conditions multiple times and get multiple outcomes but if you must know it scores an approximate 980. I personally don't use benchmarks to judge how fast a rom is I just use my eyes and see how much it will lag or not, remember benchmarks are meaningless in everyday use. All in all this rom is very well put together, and on a scale of 1-10 I give it a solid 8 and expect Ricsim only to make more imporvements on the ROM as he has admitted that he is a perfectionist an is constantly updateing his rom. I hope this has been a informative review and all of you have enjoyed reading this I will be writing more reviews on other ROMs as well. Any and all feedback is appreciated. Thank you~James

Is the iPad 2 worth it?

It is no secret that the iPad 1 was a huge success in the tablet world, but will the iPad 2 be? Apple announced the iPad 2 with slightly bumped up specs from the current iPad! Some of the new specs are the new dual core A9 chip, IOS 4.3, and the new front facing camera and the rear camera the iPad was lacking! Those new features may make it sound like the best tablet in the world, but will it make you ditch your iPad 1? And is it really the best tablet on the market right now?

The biggest competitor to the iPad and the iPad 2 is the Motorola Xoom featuring Honeycomb 3.0, (And to those who haven't heard about the Xoom, its Google's Flagship Android Tablet). Comparing the Xoom's specs to the iPad 2's specs, the Xoom comes out on top in a few sections like screen resolution, camera mega-pixels, and internal storage and ram!

But when comparing android to IOS, it is a whole different world! Some people choose android over IOS because it is more customizable people like having more selection of phones! People usually choose IOS over android due to the bigger app market, smoother OS, and having faster updates then android! It is the consumer's choice of what OS they like better and why!

But comparing the iPad to the iPad 2, it is not a huge upgrade from the original iPad! And comparing the iPad 2 to the Motorola Xoom, the Motorola Xoom comes out on top in the specs department. So is the iPad 2 is a big enough upgrade from the original iPad to make you ditch your iPad and get the iPad 2? And can the iPad 2 compete with tablets like the Motorola Xoom... YOU CHOOSE!!!
